Voronezh State Academy of Arts was founded in 1971 in accordance with the decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated August 19, 1971; ¹ 582; the decree of the Council of Ministers of the Russian Federation dated August 30, 1971; ¹ 1010. The former name — «Voronezh State Institute of Arts» — was changed under the decree of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation dated December 8, 1998; ¹ 598 in accordance with the decree of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation dated June 20, 1998; ¹ 1950.
9 educational creative groups work in the Academy: Student's theatre, Symphony orchestra, String orchestra — prizewinner of the International Competition in Belgrade (1995), the orchestra of wind instruments, the orchestra of bayans, the orchestra of Russian folk instruments, educational and chamber choirs, folk group «Volya». These groups and soloists carry on intensive creative activity giving concerts in the halls of Voronezh and many other cities of Russia as well as abroad. Those students who had made considerable creative achievements were awarded special scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the New charitable Fund of M. Rostropovich. In 1997 the Academy became laureate of the competition held by the newspaper «Culture» — «Window to Russia» the faculty of raising qualification. ![]()
